WALES’ LARGEST PUBLIC AFFAIRS AGENCY ANNOUNCE FURTHER EXPANSION

Wales’ largest public affairs agency, Deryn, has today announced the addition of a senior new team member to their growing office in Cardiff Bay. Former Welsh Government Special Advisor and Chief Executive of Plaid Cymru – The Party of Wales Rhuanedd Richards will join Deryn later this month.

In addition to this significant appointment to the team, Deryn Consultant Huw Roberts , who is also Chair of IOD Wales will become Chair of Deryn Consulting Ltd.

The two bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the already successful and award winning team.

Deryn currently works with a range of clients in the infrastructure, health, education, economic development, energy, telecommunications, pharmaceutical and housing fields.

Rhuanedd has extensive political, government and policy experience. For the past five years she has worked as Chief Executive of Plaid Cymru, leading the party's organisation and development as well as working as an intergral part of the leadership team overseeing political and election strategy for the party.

Prior to this role she served as a Special Adviser on policy and communications for the Welsh Government for four years during the Labour – Plaid One Wales Coalition where she was responsible for the overall co-ordination of political, presentational and policy advice to Ministers. She led on the work of negotiating between the parties of the coalition on government budget, legislation and policy decisions. She also led teams in the delivery of Governmental projects.

Before joining Government Rhuanedd enjoyed a distinguished career at BBC Wales as Assistant News Editor, Presenter and Producer on both television and radio. Rhuanedd was one of the first BBC Political Reporters to work at the National Assembly for Wales.

 

She will be joining Deryn as Director of Client Strategy on the 20th of June.

Deryn was established in January 2012 by Directors Cathy Owens and Nerys Evans.

Cathy Owens previously worked as a Special Adviser at the Welsh Government, and played leading roles in the Carwyn Jones leadership campaign as well as the successful Yes for Wales campaign in the 2011 powers referendum. She has recently worked for Amnesty International and spent five years as a public affairs consultant for a wide range of blue chip public and private sector clients.

Nerys Evans served as an Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales between 2007 and 2011, Nerys was Plaid Cymru’s Director of Policy and authored their 2011 Assembly Manifesto. She has served on the First Minister Commission on Public Service Governance and Delivery – The Williams Commission, and is a member of Ofcom’s Advisory Committee for Wales. In 2011 she was appointed by the Welsh Government to be an Education Commissioner in Blaenau Gwent County Council and then served on the Ministerial performance board in the County.  She is also Director of Strategy at Portal training.
